Chandrasekhar Quits BJP, Revanth Extends Invite to Join Congress

Hyderabad: Former minister A. Chandrasekhar wrote a letter critical of the BJP and left the party on Sunday. He is believed to be headed to the Congress.

In an immediate reaction, TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy said Chandrashekar had joined the BJP believing that the party was anti-K. Chandrashekar Rao only to realise that it had only made empty promises.

Stating that the entry of Chandrasekhar would be the coming together of anti-KCR forces vexed with his corruption, Reddy said he had in principle accepted the TPCC invitation.

“We will hold a meeting with Mallikarjun Kharge as the chief guest on August 18 to facilitate his entry”, he said.

Earlier in his parting letter to the BJP, Chandrasekhar accused the party of being hand in glove with the BRS and failing to check mistakes of the state government.

“We had hoped Telangana youth would get jobs and farmers would get water to irrigate their fields. But all such hopes have remained a pipe dream,” Chandrasekhar wrote.

Speaking with activists from Kollapur and Maheshwaram, who joined the party at his residence, Revanth Reddy said, “Rao neglected Mahabubnagar district though the people stood by him. Lands of people from Kollapur are being taken over for any project that comes up. The people had stood by the Congress in 2108 but the MLA betrayed them. I call on all people to stand by the Congress party and give us all the 14 Assembly seats.”
