Vizag MLA gets 6-month jail term

 Visakhapatnam: The second additional district judge court on Friday convicted Visakhapatnam South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar and another person, Bora Durga Reddy, to a six-month jail term and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on charges of attacking a person.

According to the prosecution, one Bora Ramachandra Reddy of the Marripalem area of Visakhapatnam had a property dispute with Bora Durga Reddy. A case was also registered in court. Ramachandra Reddy filed a complaint with Kancharapalem police station on August 19, 2006, alleging that Durga Reddy, Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar, and Subba Reddy trespassed on his property and caused damage.

He lodged a similar complaint in 2008. When the police did not register his complaint, Ramachandra Reddy filed a private complaint in court. One of the accused, Subba Reddy, died during the trial.

The judge convicted the remaining accused. The MLA told reporters that he would challenge the conviction in the High Court.
