HYDERABAD: Congress MP N. Uttam Kumar on Monday assured balladeer Gadar and representatives of All India Confederation of SC/ST Organisations that he would take up their plea to name the new Parliament building after B.R. Ambedkar.

He will take up the issue with vice-president Jagdeep Dhankar, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Reddy said that this demand has been pending since the time the foundation stone for the building was laid on December 10, 2020. The BJP government should have immediately accepted the demand, he said.

“Besides writing letters to the vice-president, Lok Sabha speaker and the Prime Minister, I will make representations in person to push for Ambedkar Parliament House,” he said. Reddy said that naming it after Ambedkar and installing a gigantic statue of the architect of the constitution in the Parliament premises would be a befitting salutation to Ambedkar.
