BJP MLA gets six months of jail over election aff
BENGALURU: BJP MLA Uday Garudachar was on Thursday sentenced to two months jail and a penalty of Rs 10,000 by 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Court, Bengaluru after the MLA was found guilty of hiding facts in his election affidavit. Uday represents the Chickpet Assembly seat in Bengaluru city and is a first time MLA.
He was later granted bail since his jail term was less than three years. The MLA has been asked to furnish Rs 25,000 bond and surety.
Uday Garudachar was charged with hiding two criminal cases against him in his election affidavit during the Assembly election held in 2018. A complaint was filed against him at Ashok Nagar police station based on a complaint from Prakash Shetty.
Another charge against the MLA was that he had hidden the Managing Director post held by him in Maverick Holdings and Investments Private Limited and instead had mentioned that he was an investor in the Holdings. Another complaint against Uday was filed by H.G. Prashanth.
