HYDERABAD: Congress candidate for the Munugode by-election Palvai Sravanthi, highlighting the “poor performances” of TRS and BJP leaders as MLAs, is seeking to win the poll with her mantra of “Okka Aukasham (once chance).”

Sravanthi said that she has been overwhelmed by the support during her month-long campaign, as many also identified her as the daughter of former minister and five-term MLA Palvai Govardhan Reddy. She is also looking to capitalise on being the only woman candidate in the poll fray.

“People know me, as I was the person visiting all these villages for the past three decades. I was the contact point, representing my father. Women in these villages consider me as one of them,” she told Deccan Chronicle.

She alleged that Koosukuntla Prabhakar Reddy (TRS candidate) and Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy (BJP candidate) let down the people of Munugode as MLAs over the past eight years.

“Prabhakhar Reddy, in his term, failed to bring in development. Construction of roads, securing water bodies and establishment of English-medium colleges remain a pipe dream. How could he seek votes without providing anything like 2BHK or even pensions? One of the villages does not even have a road and a ration shop. People have to travel to Chandur to get pension,” she said, during her campaign at Nampally mandal.

She highlighted that Rajgopal Reddy betrayed the people who had voted him to power with a huge majority. “Rajgopal should be taught a lesson, as he sold himself,” she said.

The Congress has also amplified its online campaign, alleging that the BJP was trying to buy people with money and the TRS, with liquor.
