THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP will lay a siege to the secretariat on Monday demanding the ouster of transport minister Thomas Chandy. BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan will inaugurate the siege at 10 a.m. While the main gate, south gate and Azad gate will be blocked by the BJP supporters, the Cantonment gate will left free to enable the officials to enter the secretariat.

Mr Rajasekharan told this newspaper that 10,000 BJP supporters from Thiruvananthapuram district will take part in the siege.

"The siege is also in protest against the murder of RSS worker Anand in Thrissur on Sunday," he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Rajasekharan and Mr O. Rajagopal, MLA, sent a memorandum to Governor P. Sathasivam seeking Thomas Chandy's resignation.

The letter alleged that Thomas Chandy had acquired wealth through illegal means which was not mentioned before the Election Commission.

Earlier, Mr Rajasekharan alleged that chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan was protecting Thomas Chandy despite the CPI and the allies disowning the minister.

Mr Rajasekharan also said that the UDF did not have any right to demand Chandy's resignation as they had allowed him to encroach on the land in Alappuzha.

Thomas Chand blames media for ‘misleading’ reports

Transport Minister Thomas Chandy has claimed that the LDF meeting, held at the AKG Centre in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, did not demanded his resignation and blamed the media for misleading reports.

Mr Chandy told reporters at Nedumbaserry airport later in the day that the meeting only entrusted the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to take a decision. The media reports on the contrary are blatant lies, Mr Chandy said.
