VISAKHAPATNAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally laid the groundwork for renovation of Visakhapatnam railway station at a cost of approximately Rs 450 crore.
According to railway official Jayaram, benefits of the major upgrade to the station include a top grade with state-of-the-art infrastructure and enhancing passenger convenience, comfort and safety.
The promotion of unidirectional passenger flow with good arrival and departure segmentation and creation of a sustainable financial ecosystem for successfully managing and operating the railway infrastructure are the salient features of the modernization, he said.
Improved traffic flow assistance and better parking planning are also among the priorities, he said.
