Hyderabad: Civic issues and those concerning health and education are set to be at the heart of campaigns by BJP leaders in GHMC pockets. People are flooding them with complaints about basic problems, which they lament have never been addressed.

Former MLA Marri Shashidhar Reddy said, “People are fed up with the goondaism, corruption and non-governance that is so prevalent in Sanathnagar under minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who is associated with anti-social activities. Gambling, consumption of drugs and land grabbing are all happening across the constituency. Those who work for my party are threatened. Even a pastor was also not spared. I have complained to the police higher-ups about this.”

Houses built before 2014 had a few works like sewerage connections that were incomplete. They have not been completed in all these years. People have given representations against the laying of cement roads as the existing roads are fine and dug up roads disturb sewerage lines, which are then left unattended for months together, he said.

“The minorities are backing me and recall my father and my contribution here,” he said and added that ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ remains the governing motto.

N.V.S.S. Prabhakar, former Uppal MLA, cited underground drainage, civic problems owing to failure of GHMC and negligence of outer periphery areas faced by the people in Uppal assembly constituency.

“Corruption is deep-rooted in GHMC and civil supplies and electricity departments. The underground drainage pipelines were laid over 20 years back. They get blocked every day and lead to overflowing,” he said.

Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, a contestant from Khairatabad, says, “People have not got 2bhk houses, dalit bandhu benefits were not extended to my cadre, while BC bandhu never took-off. K. Chandrashekar Rao and Danam Nagender seem to be feeling that money power will help them win. We will soon release a charge sheet and manifesto for the Khairtabad constituency.”

“There are no colleges in our area and land of Annapurna temple and endowment department are encroached by AIMIM and BRS leaders, who are not sparing even Wakf land and minorities are being threatened,” said Amar Singh, BJP candidate for the Karwan seat.

“We are promising to bring metro services to the Old City so that youth can take up jobs in other parts of the city. The bus stop in Charminar, which was demolished in 2018, has not been rebuilt yet. Land grabbing has reached such levels that even public toilets are being gobbled up,” said Megha Rani, BJP contestant from the Charminar constituency.
