Poor not lucky to have own house in KCR’s reign: Congress leader
Warangal: Before the 2014 elections, K Chandrasekhar Rao had promised houses to the homeless poor but he “betrayed them” after forming the government.
The allegation was made by the executive member of the TPCC and Bhupalpally assembly segment in-charge Gandra Satyanarayana Rao at a one-day deeksha at the mandal headquarters in Shyampet.
Congress leaders along with a large number of shelterless poor participated in the deeksha.
Satyanarayana alleged that the poor were not lucky enough to build their own house under the reign of KCR. “Before the elections, he had boasted he was well aware of the problems of the poor and ordinary people living without any permanent houses. He promised them free double bedroom houses.”
"KCR had also promised he would sanction Rs 5 lakh for those who have housing plots. But, after coming to power and becoming chief minister, he deviated from his promise instead of completing the construction works for the promised 2bhk houses. He started saying he would sanction only Rs 3 lakh and this, only for 3,000 poor families.”
"Does one constituency have only 3,000 poor families," Satyanarayana asked.
He claimed that the Congress governments had strived hard to uplift the poor and weaker sections and took up many welfare activities for the sake of the poor.
“The state government must take up the construction works for the 2bhk houses immediately and distribute them to the real beneficiaries. It must also sanction Rs 5 lakh to those who have housing plots immediately, so that they can construct their own houses,” he said.
