TRS wins eight of 13 MPTCs in byelections in Karimnagar district

In Karimnagar district's Gangadhar mandal, the BJP and the Congress picked up a seat each.

Hyderabad: The TRS won a majority of bypolls to 16 MPTC seats but lost one each to the Congress and the BJP in Karimnagar district, its stronghold.

Of the 16 seats, three were decided unanimously, two going to the TRS and one to an Independent. In the remaining 13 seats for which results were declared by the State Election Commission on Saturday, the TRS won eight, the Congress and the BJP two each and an Independent won one.

In Karimnagar district’s Gangadhar mandal, the BJP and the Congress picked up a seat each. The TRS won Ankushapur in Sircilla district.

In Siddipet district’s Cherial mandal, the Akunur-1 MPTC seat went in favour of the Congress. In Kamareddy district, Madnoor mandal, the Madnoor-2 MPTC seat went to the BJP. The TRS lost in both places.

In Mahbubnagar, Makthal mandal, an Inde-pendent won the Lingampally MPTC seat. The eight seats won by the TRS were in Adilabad, Khammam, Mahbub-nagar, Nalgonda and Ranga Reddy districts.
