Chennai: Contending that the coming together of the opposition DMK and Congress did not pose any threat to the BJP's prospects at the hustings, BJP State President Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan said their alliance was not "significant" in so far as the people were concerned.

"The Congress and the DMK alliance was already defeated and sent packing home by the people in the state. Their alliance would hardly make any significance to the people in so far as this Assembly election is concerned," she said.

With the DMK, the BJP and the four-party People's Welfare Front (PWF) led by MDMK Leader Vaiko and comprised the VCK and the two Left Parties, extending an open invitation to the actor to join their respective fronts, Vijayakanth has been keeping the cards close to his heart.

On a day of rapid political development in the state that saw the Opposition DMK and the Congress announcing their alliance for the ensuing Assembly polls, BJP leader, who was scouting for alliance partners, called on DMDK Chief and
actor-politician Vijayakanth and invited him to her son's marriage.
