Thrissur: The surrender of CPM leader P. Jayarajan at Thalassery additional sessions court on Friday is a lesson for his party, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said here on Saturday.

He told reporters that the CPM allegation that the stage government and RSS had worked hand-in-hand for Mr Jayarajan’s arrest in the murder case was baseless.

“The CBI, which is inquiring into the murder case, is not acting as directed by the state government, and so there is no point in making such allegations. But CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan should take action against the leaders of his party who are involved in criminal cases and it  should give up the politics of violence,” he added.

Mr Chennithala earlier inaugurated the first high security prison in the state at Viyyur which is meant to lodge hardcore criminals.
