Mangaluru: Reacting sharply to demands at the recent Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting for his dismissal from the party for his crictical comments on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the state government, former KPCC chief B. Janardhan Poojary asserted on Monday that this was not as easy as it seemed.

“Resolutions were passed in the past and some leaders even went to Delhi to demand my removal from the party. But the High Command did not remove me. Why didn’t it?” he asked, adding with sarcarsm, “I am waiting. Let them remove me. As soon as I am removed I would like to garland those who demanded my removal.”

Besides Mr Poojary, other senior leaders, who came under attack at the legislature party meeting for their statements against Mr Siddaramaiah and the government, were Mr Jaffer Sharief and Mr H Vishwanath. All three men are known for their candid comments that often prove discomforting for the Chief Minister.  Having challenged those who demanded his ouster, Mr Poojary went on to   appreciate Mr Siddaramaiah for his decision to field late minister H C Mahadevappa’s wife in the Gundlupet byelection and for passing a legislation to promote rural sports like  Kambala.

Also dismissing charges by BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa against the CM,  he mocked, “Let him provide the evidence and by the end of that press conference I will hand him a garland.”
