Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy pushes son for DCCB post
Incidentally, Mr Srinivas Reddy began his political career as chairman of a primary agriculture cooperative society.
NIZAMABAD: Competition for chairman post of the Nizamabad District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB) is getting intense as MLAs have stepped into the arena to get it for their kin.
Assembly speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy’s younger son Pocharam Bhaskar Reddy, Nizamabad urban MLA Bigala Ganesh Gupta’s father Bigala Krishna Murthy and minister for roads, buildings, housing and legislative affairs V. Prashanth Reddy’s relative K. Ramesh Reddy are in the race for the post.
The DCCB serves the farmers in the undivided Nizamabad district. Ruling party leaders are keen to see that their relatives or trusted followers are elected chairman and vice chairman of the bank so that they can have the farmers in the district in their kitty.
Incidentally, Mr Srinivas Reddy began his political career as chairman of a primary agriculture cooperative society. Later, he went on to become the chairman of the Nizamabad DCCB in early 1990s.
He wants to give his son Bhaskar Reddy a political push by installing him in the seat of DCCB chairman. In his first attempt at electoral victory, Mr Bhaskar Reddy was elected Desaipet PACS chairman in the last elections, but did not make it to DCCB chairman post.
