Bengaluru: The first couple of the state H.D. Kumaraswamy and wife Anita are busy  temple hopping and consulting astrologers ever since their son, Mr Nikhil Kumaraswamy was declared as the Janata Dal (Secular) candidate from Mandya for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The family of former PM and JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda is known to rush to temples, perform homa and havan and hold special pujsa before taking any major decision. However, frequenting temples has become more now with the two grandsons of Mr Gowda -Mr Prajwal Revanna, son of PWD Minister H.D. Revanna and Mr Nikhil Kumaraswamy, of the JD(S) patriach, Mr Deve Gowda all set to make their debut in politics from Hassan and Mandya LS constituencies respectively. Even before the announcement of the poll dates, Mr Gowda had arranged a Maha Chandika Homa at Sringeri Sharadha temple-a vaishnavite temple, seeking  divine blessings for his grandsons. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Ramanagaram MLA Anitha Kumaraswamy, Mr Nikhil Kumaraswamy and Ms Chennamma Deve Gowda sat through the special havan seeking the divine blessings of Goddess Sharadha.

Since the last two weeks, Ms Anitha Kumaraswamy is holding a 'vratha' and offering special puja at Hole Anjaneyaswamy temple, situated in Maddur town, just one km off the Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway, every Tuesday for the victory of her son, Mr Nikhil. Devotees believe that their wishes will be fulfilled by Lord Hanuman if they perform puja especially on the auspicious day of Tuesday. Already, she has completed puja on two Tuesdays and is set to complete three more. For this purpose, Ms Anitha comes to Maddur town  every Tuesday morning and returns after the puja.

Her husband, the CM is busy in consulting reputed astrologers to know the fate of his son in Mandya. On Tuesday night, Mr Kumaraswamy, accompanied by his son, met Rajguru Dwarakanath, a noted astrologer in Bengaluru, The CM spent over an hour with the astrologer to know about Mr Nikhil's chances in Mandya especially after Ms Sumalatha Ambareesh,  widow of late M H Ambareesh, decided to enter the fray. Though, the CM didn't reveal what the astrologer told but he had already visited Ganigapura once as per the advise of  the Rajguru. Sources say the Guruji blessed Mr Nikhil and wished him best of luck.

On the other hand, Mr Revanna had arranged a special puja in Hassan on Wednesday before launching a campaign for his son and Hassan candidate, Mr Prajwal. Ms Bhavani Revanna, wife of Mr Revanna too held a special puja at home for the victory of her son from Hassan-being presently held by Mr Deve Gowda.

Ms Sumalatha is not lagging behind in temple runs in Mandya and her routine starts from visiting a temple before holding a series of road shows in Mandya. Who has bigged the divine blessing will be known only on May 23.
