Kakinada: A single window system has been set up in order to give clearance for taking up electioneering for the contestants in East Godavari.
East Godavari collector and District Election Officer Karthikeya Misra told newsmen here on Wednesday that they had set up a single window system, headed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police rank, along with officers from other departments, one each at the offices of Returning Officers for three Parliamentary segments in the district.
He said that the political parties and the contestants could approach the permission cells at the office of Returning Officer and seek permission to take out rallies, conduct public meetings and to use loud speakers and vehicles. He asked the political parties and contestants to submit requisition for permission, 48 hours in advance, along with details of expenditure plan in the prescribed format in Annexure-16.
With regard to counting of votes for MLC polls and also for general polls, the collector said that counting for MLC polls would be held at Rangaraya Medical College, Kakinada, while counting of votes polled in 10 Assembly segments in general elections would be held at JNTUK, Ranga Raya Medical College, AKNU PG Centre and District Sports Authority Office located in Kakinada.
He said that around 51 auxiliary polling stations were proposed to be set up in addition to the existing 4,580 stations as the number of voters have gone up by 1,200 in rural and 1,400 in urban polling stations in the district.
