Nothing wrong in my dad contesting from Chamundeshwari & Badami: Yatindra
The confirmation came from none other than his son, Dr S Yatindra on Friday.
Mysuru: The cat is finally out of the bag. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is contesting from both Chamundeshwari and Badami these assembly polls. The confirmation came from none other than his son, Dr S Yatindra on Friday.
Speaking at a meeting of progressive thinkers backing the Congress in the poll in the city, he said, “There is nothing wrong if my father contests from two constituencies. As he wants to contest his last elections from Chamundeswari, from where he first contested, he has chosen it . But he is also contesting from Badami as the people there too are insisting he should.” He asserted the party was confident of winning from both Varuna (where he is tipped to contest) and Chamundeshwari.
In his maiden speech at a public event, Dr Yatindra, who is just about entering politics, seemed to know all the points to tick. Observing that progressive thinkers played a vital role in bringing about equality in society, he deplored that the practice of dividing people in the name of caste continued.
“When ruling party MPs at the Centre talk about changing the Indian Constitution then it is under threat. People from the backward classes must be alert and support the Congress which backs their cause,” he added. Actor Mukyamanthri Chandru , who participated in the event, wanted “Beware of BJP or JD (S)” sign boards erected as the former was communal and the latter casteist, in his view.
And like the Quit India movement against the British there ought to be a Quit India movement against the two parties, he declared.
Others present at the event included Dr Marula Siddappa, S G Siddaramaiah, Prof K S Bhagvan, Prof Mahesh Chandra Guru, and former Rangayana director, Janardhan (Janni).
The event was hosted by the Karnataka Raajya Hindulida Vargagale Vedike and the Pragathipara Chinthakaru.
