Congress hails K Chandrasekhar Rao move on graft
Jeevan Reddy said Chandrasekhar Rao had given rewards to revenue employees, saying that they had done good work.
Hyderabad: TPCC leaders welcomed Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s decision to end corruption in the revenue and municipal departments, but asked what he had done about it all these years.
Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, Congress MLC T. Jeevan Reddy and former minister Nagam Janardhan Reddy said the TRS government was responsible for the increasing corruption in the departments.
Mr Jeevan Reddy asked what Mr Chandrasekhar Rao had done to end corruption in his previous tenure as Chief Minister. He said Mr Rao was now complaining that corruption increased in the municipal department and pointed out that his son K.T. Rama Rao was the municipal administration minister in the previous Cabinet.
Mr Jeevan Reddy said Mr Chandrasekhar Rao had given rewards to revenue employees, saying that they had done good work. Now, he was saying that corruption increased in the department. He alleged that Mr Rao had no grip on the administration as he never came to the secretariat.
Dr Janardhan Reddy asked whether Mr Rao was seeing corruption only in the revenue and municipal departments, and not in irrigation. He alleged that in the name of redesigning projects, crores of rupees had been embezzled. He demanded an inquiry into the corruption by a High Court judge. The Congress leaders also asked Mr Rao why he was not appointing the Lokayukta.
