Kerala Assembly Elections: Poll process in full swing
Cops keep watch on anti-social elements.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With just two days left for the polling, poll preparations are on full swing in the district. The officials who are being deployed for various election duties are being given specific directions and assignments in connection with the conduct of polls. The election authorities are also doing a detailed review of arrangements at the polling stations and booths marked for polling.
The department is also doing all the checks related to poll material including EVMs, Braille ballot papers and other paraphernalia required for the entire electoral process. On the law and order front, the district police has already had a series of meetings to review the situation in the district.
Central paramilitary forces which will be deployed in various sensitive and highly sensitive booths in the district have already conducted route marches in their respective areas. Since the district shares its border with Tamil Nadu, police officials of both states are sharing intelligence inputs besides holding joint surveillance along the border.
The cops are also keeping a close watch on the movements of anti-social elements and history sheeters. The exercise department has already sounded a red alert to check the supply of illicit liquor and spirit especially smuggling from across the interstate border.
Excise teams have conducted raids across the district besides intensifying vehicle checks. The government had sounded the alert following reports that there could be attempts to engineer a hooch tragedy in the state.
