Hubballi/ Bengaluru: With the war of words between leaders of Congress and JD (S) posing a threat to the year-old coalition government, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Monday quickly claimed that CLP leader Siddaramaiah were working as "brothers of a family" for overall development of the state.

His assertion, while drumming up support for Congress candidate Kusuma Shivalli at a public rally in Kundagol, came on a day when former chief minister Siddaramaiah took to twitter to vent his ire against friend-turned-foe and state JD (S) president A H Vishwanath's diatribe but demonstrated restraint, saying he would raise the issue during a meeting of the coordination committee. Mr Siddaramaiah's aide S T Somashekar, Chairman, BDA, and Mr Kupendra Reddy, Rajya Sabha member of JD (S), too, were involved in a heated exchange with the former reviving his decision to host a meeting of 'like-minded' legislators on May 21 in response to Mr Reddy's taunt that Congress could walk away and withdraw support to the government headed by Mr Kumaraswamy.

The Chief Minsiter, however, went a step further to mollify the Kuruba strongman, saying his government was continuing several pro-poor schemes launched by the former Congress government.
