Thiruvananthapuram: Veteran CPM leader Achuthanandan has opened an office on the first floor of MLA hostel. The room 1-D allotted to him in the Neyyar block of the MLA hostel will be his new office. “By now you must have realised that I am an MLA. I will now discharge those duties.  People can come to me, approach me with petitions and problems. I will take up their issues and try to get their grievances redressed,” he said with a grin.

When asked about the delay in granting him a suitable post, the veteran leaders said that media would come to know about it when it is decided. I will inform you when it comes,” he added.  Achuthanandan steered clear of controversial statements and was guarded in his response to the queries raised by the media persons. On the controversial statements being made by LDF ministers, the veteran refused to react. “Shouldn't the people who made controversial remarks clarify on such issues,” he asked.

When asked about chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s statement that he would prefer 45 meter width for the NH in the state, Achuthanandan declined to comment. “I  don’t have anything to say on this topic at the moment,” he said. Earlier, Achuthanandan was accompanied to the MLA hostel by his son V A Arunkumar and personal staff. The veteran spent some time in his room which is located next to CPI  leader C Divakaran’s room.
