ANANTAPUR: Dissidence against child and women welfare minister Ushasri Charan is building up in Kalayanadurg Assembly segment after a group in the YSRC  passed a resolution urging the party high command to consider only locals for the MLA seat in the coming polls.

They alleged that the minister was insulting her own party leaders and even mounting pressure on the police to register cases against them in all mandals.

In the context of the recent Vijayotsva Sabha that was successfully held to mark the completion of four years of the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led rule of the state, the Rayalaseema YSRC regional coordinator and incharge minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy sent out hints that Ushasri Charan would be fielded again from Kalyanadurg. He urged the people to bless her. This alerted the dissident group.

On Tuesday, Anantapur MP Talari Rangaiah’s close aide and YSRC state secretary B Thippeswamy organised a meeting with the main leaders of the dissident camp at his farm house. Several leaders gathered at the meeting and said they were facing insults in several ways from the minister.

“Even during the Vijayotsava Sabha, MPPs and ZPTC members faced insults from her. We request chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy that we will not entertain the thought of a non- local MLA for the next round,” a leader from Kambadur observed.

"Though Ushasri Charan previously worked as TD secretary, she joined the YSRC a few months before the polls. The Chief Minister should consider only a local candidate for the MLA election," he stressed.

The rival group of YSRC led by the local MP’s close aide B. Thippeswamy resolved to conduct all party programmes in the name of the local party without the participation of minister Ushasri Charan and her non-local leaders in Kalyadurg.
