Thiurvananthapuram: The Chief Minister accused former state police chief T P Senkumar of justifying lapses of police. "It is not proper for a police officer who takes a stand against the general interest of the society to continue as state police chief. Despite serious lapses from the part of the police, Mr. Senkumar justified the police actions. A state police chief is responsible for major lapses on the part of the police.

Hence the LDF government is firm on its decision that such an officer should not lead the force. There was no political influence in the decision," Mr. Vijayan told the Assembly after the Opposition alleged that the unceremonious exit of state police chief and frequent transfers of police officials were demoralising the police force.
