No breakthrough as taxmen continue raids on day-two
Sources said the I-T department had issued a notice to Mr Ramesh's wife, seeking more information about the alleged tax violations.
Hyderabad: The income-tax raids against TD MP, Mr C.M. Ramesh, a close aide of AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, continues on Day 2 (Saturday). The taxman did not arrive at any breakthrough in the case that was registered following suspicion over large-scale tax evasion.
Sources said the I-T department had issued a notice to Mr Ramesh’s wife, seeking more information about the alleged tax violations. Also on day-2, the taxmen were unable to open the lockers as they are all biometric enabled and it would need Mr Ramesh’s fingerprints to open it. In response to the call of the I-T department, Mr Ramesh agreed to open the lockers, however in presence of the media. Reportedly no cash or documents were seized on the second day of searches.
A flutter was created on Friday, when 12 teams from I-T department raided the residence of Mr Ramesh in Jubilee Hills, and the office of Rithwik Projects Private limited in Banjara Hills, offices in Delhi and his native place Proddatur in Kadapa district.
