KARIMNAGAR: A tense situation prevailed and police resorted to a mild
lathi-charge to disperse the mob when local youth and some Congress leaders stopped TRS legislator Rasamayi Balakrishnan's convoy near Gundlapalli on the national highway in Ganneruvaram mandal and hurled slippers on his vehicle Sunday afternoon.
The villagers alleged that Balakishan, who was an outsider, had neglected development of Manakondur people. Police took Congress leaders and youth into custody.
The protestors demanded the MLA to lay a new double road between Ganneruvaram and Gundlapalli villages or else resign from the Assembly. DCC president Kavvampalli Satyanarayana participated in the dharna.
