Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala chief minister Mr Pinarayi Vijayan on  Tuesday accused the RSS of making attempts to install a presidential system in the country.

The chief minister while addressing a  CPM gathering  in Ernakulam, alleged that the BJP government at the Centre was preparing the ground for a change in system by scuttling the interests of the states. Decisions are being imposed from above in violation of federal principles.

Mr Vijayan said the need of the hour is to throw the BJP out of power. "The CPM stand is to work for the formation of a secular government at the Centre. This is the task which has been bestowed on the party in the current political situation," he said.

The chief minister, however, ruled  out the possibility of Congress leading such a political formation at the national level.

"The Congress cannot  become an  alternative to the BJP. People have lost faith in the Congress," he said.

Mr Vijayan said the BJP government was selling public sector undertakings on the one hand and derailing the development projects of the states.
