Revanth colours his car black to cut expenses, downsizes convoy from 10 to 3
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has decided not to waste public money in purchasing new vehicles for his convoy. The Chief Minister directed the Intelligence Security Wing (ISW) officials to change vehicle colours from white to black.
The decision was taken keeping in mind the present financial condition of Telangana, with Revanth Reddy directing the use of only black colour, rather than painting, to reduce expenditure. Since Revanth Reddy took charge as the second Chief Minister of Telangana, he has been travelling in his own vehicle, which is also black.
The developments come after ISW officials, a few days ago, suggested that the Chief Minister purchase new vehicles for his convoy.
The Chief Minister denied the ISW officials' suggestion and directed them to reduce expenditure on his convoy. Besides the colour change, he also directed that the number of vehicles be reduced from 10 to three to prevent snarls and navigate roads easily.
Even as ISW officials requested to modify Revanth Reddy’s vehicle, the Chief Minister denied it, informing ISW officials that he was comfortable with his vehicle.
Revanth Reddy also confirmed the same in an interaction with mediapersons at his chamber on the Assembly premises, saying that with multiple ministers residing in the heart of the city, he took the decisions to minimise traffic disruptions to the public.
In a review on Thursday, ISW officials decided to withdraw personnel security officers deployed for former ministers and MLAs, instead, deciding to strengthen security for the incumbent ministers and MLAs.
