Stakes to rise as election result nears
Reports indicate that nearly Rs 100 cr have been put into election betting in the past week in Krishna, Guntur, Godavari, and Visakhapatnam districts.
Vijayawada: The bets placed by punters before elections stood in the range of Rs 5,000 to Rs 30,000. After polling, though there are six weeks left for counting, the bets are now being placed on sums ranging between Rs 25,000 and Rs 15 lakh. They are expected to increase further in the coming days and peak before the results.
Reports indicate that nearly Rs 100 crore have been put into election betting in the past week in Krishna, Guntur, Godavari, and Visakhapatnam districts.
The betting rage is spreading to the other districts of Andhra Pradesh and is expected to increase exponentially before the counting. Punters reported that although bets are currently being placed only on the victory and defeat of parties and candidates, they would soon start focusing on the margin of victory.
