Kerala Assembly Elections: LDF confident, points at surveys
The UDF government is trying to derail the historic land reforms act.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On the eve of the crucial Assembly elections, the Left leadership claimed that the results of opinion polls, surveys and the political situation prevailing in the state clearly indicated that the LDF is all set to form the next Government.
The Left camp says the people have made up their mind to dislodge the Oommen Chandy government which is neck deep in corruption. The state’s development indicators achieved over the years, are being demolished one by one. The UDF government is trying to derail the historic land reforms act.
LDF believes that the BJP gain,if any, will be at the expense of UDF because of the soft approach of Oommen Chandy towards the Sangh Parivar. The opposition sources claim LDF would get about 80 to 85 seats. On the BDJS factor, the Left believes that it might have an impact in some constituencies but that would not affect the electoral prospects of the LDF.
LDF leaders say the UDF which is accusing the CPM of politics of violence, should have a look at the figures released by its own government. Under the UDF’s rule , 28 LDF workers lost their lives in political violence. They say the UDF had failed to counter the RSS-BJP attempt to communalise the society. Oommen Chandy withdrew cases against RSS workers who were involved in an attack on a cop.
