Kudumbashree catering for Kerala polls
District Collector P. Bala Kiran said that the polling officials had sought a catering system.
KANNUR: Scripting a new chapter in its history, the Kudumbashree Mission will participate in the election process through its catering service in Kannur. All the election officials will get Kudumbashree food at polling booths at a nominal price. It will also open food courts at 11 distribution and reception centres in the district.
District Collector P. Bala Kiran said that the polling officials had sought a catering system. “Though we are giving food allowances, the political parties in the area provided food to the officials earlier. They have requested to make a separate arrangement this time,” he said. “We feel that by assigning Kudumbashree for the duty, we are recognizing their service to society too,” he added.
Kudumbashree state mission director N.K. Jaya opined that it was a boost to the team for exploring future tie- ups. “Kudumbashree is actively involved in catering service and our ‘Café Kudumbashree’ and various canteens in government offices are successful. This is indeed a great moment of appreciation for us,” she said.
Kannur district administration has also launched ‘We Care’ project for the polling officials under which each official will be provided with a kit consisting of a mat, pillow, tooth paste, soap, coconut oil and two packs of biscuits. A ‘Thank You’ card from the District Collector will also be included in the kit. All the poling officials will also get free medical service at any hospital in the district.
