Belagavi: He may have quit as AICC Secretary in protest over not being accommodated in the state Cabinet, but Mr Satish Jarkiholi assures that the prevailing uncertainty in the state Congress will not stretch too long and the coalition government will not suffer.
“The problems in the Congress will be overcome through discussion with the party's top leaders,” he added.
While claiming he would not like to become Minister even if he was offered the post now, he said he would lobby hard with leaders in New Delhi to give the other disgruntled state leaders a chance.
“Mr K C Venugopal, who is in charge of Karnataka affairs, will shortly hold a meeting with all the unhappy MLAs and they will make a demand for being inducted into the Cabinet,” he added.
As for his resignation, he said several party leaders had tried to persuade him to change his mind, but he was not prepared to withdraw it under any circumstances. Revealing that he was trying to pin down the Congress leaders from the state, who lobbied in Delhi to deprive him of a Cabinet berth, Mr Jarkiholi added, “Both I and Belagavi Rural MLA, Laxmi Hebbalkar are in the same boat. According to sources, the former Minister also plans to stop conducting national events like bodybuilding and other cultural events in Belagavi, which are a huge drain on his resources.
