Kerala completes 100 per cent shift to online poll roll
During a function held here on Monday, deputy election commissioner Sandeep Saxena inaugurated functioning of ERONet in the state.
Kochi: Kerala has become the first state in the country to achieve 100 percent online electoral role status through National Voters Service portal. The state has been completely shifted from the state electoral role management system to the National Voters Service portal through ERONet, the new software system introduced by the Election Commission.
During a function held here on Monday, deputy election commissioner Sandeep Saxena inaugurated functioning of ERONet in the state.
Since all states use the same software, ERONet will help Election Commission to monitor and analyse voters’ details. The system is expected to check inaccuracy and duplicity of votes. Using the software, people can get register for voter ID and get details of voter card changed online.
“The system will help to make the voters’ list error-proof and EC will be able to analyse the gap between total population and the number of voters, based on the Census data,” said Mr. Saxena.
In the state, applications for the voters’ list have been completely shifted to online system since 2012.
