TTV Dhinakaran distances from party organ's attacks on BJP
Dhinakaran vows to correct erring ministers.
Madurai: Distancing himself from the articles that appeared in the AIADMK party organ ‘Namadhu MGR’ which attacked the BJP, TTV Dhinakaran, deputy general secretary of AIADMK (Amma), said that those opinion pieces did not have his approval.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the public meeting and centenary celebrations of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.G. Ramachandran at Melur in the evening, Dhinkaran said, “the old guards in the Namadhu MGR, who were responsible for publishing those articles, have been identified and they will be taken to task. It is against the management policy of ‘Namadhu MGR’, he said.
To a question that the BJP was controlling the AIADMK and the government, Dhinakaran said that he did not think so. “Some party functionaries, who are at the helm of affairs, due to their selfishness and with a view to acting on their own, are pointing fingers at others and creating confusion among the party functionaries and cadre,” he said.
On the controversy over his calling Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami as ‘420’, he clarified that he was only referring to the action of using AIADMK letter pad to write the resolution. “Since I have respect for the post of the Chief Minister, I did not personally say that Palaniswami was 420”, he said.
However, Dhinakaran added that he was not afraid of calling Palaniswami as ‘420’. There are several Palaniswamis in AIADMK and he was one among them, he opined.
On the allegation made by his loyalist P. Vetrivel, (Perambur MLA) that MLA development funds were not sanctioned to him, Dhinkaran said that some of ministers were threatening many MLAs for calling him to extend their support because they found only “we can strengthen and lead the party”. “We will correct those ministers who were acting against the party interest,” he said.
