BS Yediyurappa to corporates: Get a name for Rs 10 crore
Britannia has donated food items while TVS Motors has assured a donation of Rs 1 crore.
Bengaluru: In a unique move to attract funds for the rebuilding exercise after the disastrous floods, the state government has offered to rename villages after corporate companies, which donate more than Rs 10 crore for flood relief.
Addressing representatives of the corporate sector here on Wednesday, CM B.S. Yediyurappa said the government would ensure that the renamed villages are adopted by the companies. Representatives from over 60 companies participated in the meeting, where Yediyurappa assured all support industry needed for this initiative.
The incessant rains and floods in the state have left over 56,000 houses unfit for habitation while residents of over 200 villages across 22 districts were moved to safety. Instead of distributing clothes and food material, the affected people would be benefited more if the money is given to the CM's relief fund, Yediyurappa said.
Britannia has donated food items while TVS Motors has assured a donation of Rs 1 crore. GSK and Universal Builders have assured they will rejuvenate all public health units (PHUs) damaged in the floods while Toyota has assured Rs 2 crore and CREDAI, Rs 3 crore.
