New Congress entrant creates ruckus at BC meet
ADILABAD: Differences cropped up among the Congress leaders at the BC Sadhikara meeting, held under the banner of BC Ikya Vedika, with party leaders and activists pushing and shoving in the presence of senior leader V. Hanumantha Rao who briefly left the venue here Monday.
Recent Congress entrant Kandi Srinivas Reddy and his supporters created a ruckus at the meeting. They alleged that he had not been allowed to enter the meeting, and had jumped over the gate to enter the venue. Srinivas Reddy said to have a RSS background, was later suspended for six years.
“Srinivas Reddy who joined the Congress from the BJP should know that we follow the Gandhian ideology and not that of Godse,” said Hanumantha Rao. Srinivas Reddy came from a different culture and leaders who join the Congress from BJP should know the ideology of the party.
Hanumantha Rao questioned Srinivas Reddy’s claim that he had been disallowed entry and pointed out that he had invited Srinivas Reddy to the dais. He said it was unfortunate that Srinivas Reddy came to the meeting with his bouncers and supporters and created a nuisance at the meeting. He had left as he felt insulted.
Srinivas Reddy described the incident as a storm in the teacup and alleged that anti-social elements had entered the Congress and attempted to prevent him from entering the hall.
Later, DCC president Sajid Khan issued orders suspending Srinivas Reddy from the party for six years. He alleged that Srinivas Reddy’s bouncers had thrashed Congress leaders, one of whom got injured.
