KARIMNAGAR: BJP’s Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar, in a media interaction at his constituency on Thursday, claimed the BRS candidates will not even get back their deposits if ‘jamili (joint)’ elections are held. “If Parliament and Assembly elections are held separately, then I am going to contest from Karimnagar Assembly segment. ,” he said.

With regard to his non-appearance in court in his election petition, Sanjay said: “Some foolish persons are spreading rumours that I had an understanding with Gangula Kamalakar, which is not true. Since I was in America, I did not visit the court. I had taken permission.”

Condemning police action against state unit chief G. Kishan Reddy during his hunger strike in support of the unemployed, Sanjay said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao used his clout fearing the unemployed might turn against him.

“Unable to give retirement benefits to the employees, KCR increased their retirement age and betrayed the unemployed youth. By selling lands, the state government is paying the salaries to the employees,” he said.

Not sparing the Congress either, the MP said: “The Congress is aware that it cannot come to power in the state, which is why it is making hollow promises to the people. Why are Congress and BRS not talking about the tenant farmers? Why did the state government not help farmers who faced loss due to recent heavy rains?”

Claiming that the BRS, Congress, and AIMIM were in cahoots, he slammed Chandrashekar Rao’s decision to celebrate September 17 as Integration Day, rather than Liberation Day. “BRS MLAs are purchasing leaders and voters with money. But very soon, they are going to realise their mistakes and we will teach the BRS MLAs a fitting lesson,” he said.

Discussing Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest, Bandi Sanjay rapped the YSRC government, saying: “It was not fair to arrest the Opposition leader at midnight, which was done intentionally.”

“The arrest of Naidu, which was done without proper thinking, increased the graph of the Telugu Desam in AP. Every section of people, who are not related to politics, condemned his arrest,” he said.

Welcoming Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan’s decision to approve the TSRTC merger Bill, he, however, claimed it was only brought in by Chandrashekar Rao to corner the voters of RTC employees and their families.

“The Governor had also sent the Bill back, asking the government to rectify the mistakes in the Bill, in the best interest of RTC employees,” he said.
