Congress will conduct caste census if voted to power: VH
Karimnagar: Congress senior leader and former MP V. Hanumantha Rao said the Congress was the only party to give much importance to the people of BC communities and would conduct a caste census after forming its government at the Centre.
Addressing a joint press conference with former MP Ponnam Prabhakar and former MLA A. Praveen Reddy in Husnabad constituency of Karimnagar district on Thursday, Hanumantha Rao said that all parties were going after the people of BC communities to grab their votes after Rahul Gandhi announced at the Khammam meeting that the Congress would conduct caste census after coming to power.
He said Sonia Gandhi gave Telangana state after 1,200 youths had sacrificed their lives and not because of BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
When Sonia Gandhi was visiting the state to attend a meeting, KCR as the Chief Minister, tried to create hurdles and permitted the rally by imposing several restrictions. But the Congress will hold the Thukkuguda meeting successfully and teach a lesson to the BRS government, he said.
Hitting back at the ruling BJP and BRS parties for blaming the party's declarations, he said history tells about the Congress in fulfilling whatever promises it made to the public.
Quoting AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, the former MP said Congress would fulfil all its promises in the state after forming the government on the lines of Karnataka.
He alleged that both the BJP and BRS governments were stifling the voice of Congress leaders and people’s organisations for questioning their failures. But the people will teach them a lesson in the elections, he said.
He appealed to the Congress cadre to attend in large numbers the Sonia Gandhi meeting to be held at Thukkuguda and make it a huge success.
