Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has asked the state government to submit details on whether the offices of sub-registrar would be allowed to continue to function in the wake of delegation of powers of registration of properties to secretaries working in the village/ward secretariats.

A Division Bench comprising Justices Sesha Sai and Srinivas heard a petition filed by Kothapalli Seetaram hailing from Kankipadu raising objection over delegation of registration powers to secretaries working in village/ward secretariats.

Petitioner’s counsel Jada Sravan Kumar argued that such delegation of powers was illegal.

The court asked the government with what authority the village/ward secretaries would discharge powers of offices of sub-registrar offices and also asked whether the offices of sub-registrar would be allowed to function and directed it to submit details and posted the next hearing to October 19.
