Revanth ready to withdraw from elections if KCR provides 24x7 power supply
Revanth Reddy dismissed the BRS' charge that free power supply to ryots will not be ensured if the Congress came to power
KAMAREDDY: TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy, hitting back at Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s claims about power supply, on Wednesday said he was ready to quit the poll battle in Kamareddy and Kodangal segments if Rao could prove that farmers were supplied powers round-the-clock for 24 hours a day.
Daring Rao to visit Kamareddy along with log books of power supply early in the day, Revanth Reddy said he would withdraw his nominations by 3 pm, the deadline, if the Chief Minister could prove his claims.
“I will come along with former power minister Shabbir Ali and you (KCR) will come with your energy minister G. Jagadish Reddy for debate,” he said.
Revanth Reddy, who has decided to go up against Rao in the Kamareddy constituency, began his election campaign on Tuesday and stayed the night in Kamareddy. He interacted with Congress leaders and discussed poll strategies.
Addressing a meeting of party activists, along with Mohammad Ali Shabbir, he alleged that the BRS government failed to provide uninterrupted and quality power supply to the agriculture sector. He said that after coming to power, the Congress government would provide round-the-clock uninterrupted power supply.
Hitting back at the ‘Nadu-Nedu (Then and Now)’ campaign of the BRS, the TPCC chief accused Rao and his family of amassing wealth illegally over the past 10 years. He said that ministers K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao, as well as MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, all of whom came from poor backgrounds, currently possessed enormous amounts of wealth accumulated through ill-gotten means.
On the day, election officials checked the vehicle of Revanth Reddy on his way to a helipad in Kamareddy.
