Thrissur: KPCC president Mullapally Ramachandran has rapped party’s former MP K.P. Dhanapalan and Pathanamthitta DCC president Babu George for making public statements over the candidature for the Lok Sabha elections.

He told reporters here that the statement of Mr Dhanapalan that he wo-uld contest from Chalak-udy and not from anywhere else was uncalled for as such matters need to be discussed within the party.

Mr Babu George would be served a notice over his comments on the party candidate in his LS segment, Mr Mullappally added.

Mr Dhanapalan, who had won from Chalakudy in 2009, had to exchange his seat with Mr P.C. Chacko who was the sitting MP from Thrissur for the 2014 LS polls. Both of them were defeated.

Mr Dhanapalan had recently said that the mistake of 2014 should not be repeated and that he would contest only from Chalakudy.

Mr Mullappally also hit out at CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrish-nan for his statement that the Janamaha Yathra led by him was for raising huge funds from prominent businessmen.

“The CPM which keeps company with millionaires had collected Rs 3 crore in the name of SFI leader Abhimanyu who was stabbed to death by SDPI men at Maharaja’s College. The family of the slain student leader was given only Rs 35 lakh. So, the CPM has to clarify what it has done with the remaining funds,” Mr Mullappally added.
