Many enemies have worked to see me defeated: Achuthanandan
He exuded confidence that he would win the seat with a thumping majority.
Kochi: CPI(M) veteran and leader of the Opposition in Kerala Assembly, V S Achuthanandan on said many "enemies" have worked to see his defeat in Malampuzha Assembly constituency from where he is seeking a mandate for the fourth consecutive term.
"Many enemies have tried to defeat me in Malampuzha," he said at Paravur in Alappuzha district after casting his vote this evening.
Refusing to name the "enemies" who worked against him in the high profile seat, Achuthanandan, however, exuded confidence that he would win the seat with a thumping majority.
The 93-year-old former Kerala CM said this when asked about the statement by SNDP Yogam General Secretary and BDJS founder Vellappally Natesan that Achuthanandan would face difficulties in winning the Malampuzha seat.
Hitting back at Natesan who said "Golden 'lotus' will bloom in golden 'pot' (symbol of BJDS) on May 19, after counting of votes in Kerala," Achuthanandan said the BJP BDJS combine would not win a single seat in the state.
"Lotus can only wilt in some ponds," the veteran Marxist leader added.
