UDF candidate hurt in mishap
Mr. Kishanchand and his team were on their way back from Guruvayoor after visiting the temple.
Malappuram: Elathur constituency UDF candidate and Kozhikode Corporation councillor P. Kishanchand and three others were injured in a road mishap in the wee hours on Sunday at Puthanathani near Kottakkal. The accident took place at around 6.10 am on National Highway-17 as the hatchback car in which they were travelling lost control and collided with a Thrissur-bound tanker lorry.
Mr. Kishanchand and his team were on their way back from Guruvayoor after visiting the temple. The front of the car was completely crushed in the mishap. The injured were first rushed to two private hospitals in Kottakkal and later shifted to another hospital in Kozhikode.
According to the Kalpakanchery Police, the accident occurred when the driver dozed off and moved on wrong track to hit the tanker. Both Mr. Kishanchand and the driver had worn seatbelts, which saved them from major injuries, the police said. The two passengers on the back seat have minor head injuries. Kishanchand is Jana Dal (United) leader in Kozhikode and he represents Valiyangadi division of the city corporation.
