Chennai: The first budget session of CM Edappadi Palaniswami-led government is to convene by the end of this month. A communiqué from assembly secretary K. Srinivasan said that speaker P. Dhanapal has convened the legislative Assembly to meet at 10 am on May 29.

The session is likely to last for a month during which demand for grants for various departments would be taken up.

The session is expected to generate much heat as the opposition parties have planned a series of issues including the Cauvery row and Neet related deaths.

The Assembly was adjourned after brief session on in March during which Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam tabled the state budget.

The ruling party also a got a shot in its arm with the Madras High Court chief justice Indira Baneerjee recently passing an order making it clear that the judiciary does not want to intervene in to the duties of the assembly speaker whether it is dismissing MLAs who voted against the government or placing the portrait of AIADMK leader J. Jayalalithaa, who is a convict in a disproportionate asset case.
