Kumarambheem Asifabad: TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday appealed to the Governor, top bureaucrats and political leaders of other states to visit Pranahitha-Chevella irrigation project at Tummidihatti to know the facts that it is a gravity-based project unlike Kaleshwaram where water is lifted using electricity.

Stating that the Congress would storm to power in Telangana in the next election by defeating the TRS, BJP and MIM, Mr Reddy alleged that the TRS government was influencing obse-rvers to visit the Kaleshw-aram project.

He led a team of Congress leaders to the Pranahitha-Chevella project site at Tu-mmidhatti, where he questioned why Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao failed to start the construction of the Sujala Sravanti Pranahitha-Chevella project in the last four years at Tu-mmidihatti in Chinthalama-nepalli mandal.

“Work on the Pranahitha-Chevalla project that is aim-ed at irrigating 16 lakh acres has not even begun yet. KCR has started Kaleshwaram and ignored Pranahita-Che-vella only for the sake of commissions from contractors,” the TPCC chief said.

Mr Reddy said that he was fighting against the corruption and irregularities being committed by the TRS government and  Mr Rao’s family.  “I will work for development of the people of Tela-ngana and bring the Con-gress to power with the same commitment that I displayed in protecting by country when I was in the armed forces,” Mr Reddy said.

Later, addressing a massive public meeting, Mr Reddy demanded to know why the state government failed to reopen the Nizam Sugar factory and SPM factory.

TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the Congress will give people’s government and not a feudal rule in Telangana when it wins the next elections. “We will fulfil the aspirations of the people of Telangana,” Mr Vikramarka said.

He said that once the Con-gress comes to power, it will construct the Pranahitha-Chevella project with a height of 152 metres as planned earlier.
