Hyderabad: The Telangana Youth Congress claimed that the Hyderabad police personnel had raided their ‘war room’ on Road No. 12 of Banjara Hills and took away four computers, a pen drive, hard disk and mobile phones.

Two men in plain clothes including a person identified as sub inspector Naresh, claiming to have their office beside the Lal Bahadur stadium in the city, searched the war room for around one hour, the party claimed.

M. Rajesh of the social media team who was in the office during the search said that the two men said they had a search warrant and obtained his signature on it, but refused to give them a copy of the same.

Youth Congress president K. Shivasena Reddy told Deccan Chronicle that the computers had huge volumes of information related to their research, RTI files and also details of Youth Congress workers, with whom they were planning to start a statewide campaign called ‘Youth Jodo Booth Jodo.’

“After Karnataka Congress president D.K. Shivakumar stated that Youth Congress leaders had played an active role in their win, the Telangana government started targeting us. This is nothing but a politics of vendetta,” he said.

However, no confirmation from city police officials could be obtained at the time of going to print.

In December last year, the police had raided the offices of Congress strategist Sunil Kanugolu’s office. The party had charged the police with robbing their data. That raid had followed complaints into allegedly defamatory posts put up against government leaders.
