Kottayam: KC (M) chairman K.M. Mani is keeping silent over the demand of many leaders that the party should sever  its ties with the UDF. A major section of the KC(M) leaders had raised such a demand at the party’s steering committee meeting on Tuesday.

Addressing the  meeting, Mr Mani said, “I realise the feelings of the party leaders. However, other decisions will be taken on the basis of  discussions.”   He did not make any efforts to restrain the leaders who came down heavily on Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala and the Congress party in general for the electoral rout the KC(M) faced in some constituencies.

Mr Mani asked the party leaders to energise its organisational set-up in the coming days.  The KC (M) will organise a two-day camp at Charalkunnu on July 6 and 7  in which the steering committee members and constituency presidents will take part.

However, party leaders say that the KC (M) will continue its  alliance with the UDF for the time being. Some leaders feel that it was not the proper time to come out of the front.
