HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party will, on June 17, present to the people of Telangana, a “comprehensive report” to put to rest “a false narrative being peddled by a few vested interests to undermine the Union government’s contribution” despite the best efforts of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre for the development of Telangana.

The BJP’s ‘Report to the People’ of Telangana, is to be released by Union minister and Secunderabad MP G. Kishan Reddy, at an event at the RTC Kala Bhavan in the city. The report, the BJP said in a release, will provide details of the contribution of the Union government to the development of Telangana from 2014 to till date.

The BJP, on Wednesday, said “In due appreciation of the aspirations of the people of Telangana, the Narendra Modi government has not merely been extending its cooperation, but has been proactively contributing to the development of Telangana,” and that these facts need to be placed before the people of the state.

It may be recalled that the BJP and the BRS led by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao have been at loggerheads over the issue of Central assistance and programmes for the state. With elections to the State Legislative Assembly expected to be held towards the end of this year, in about five months, the BJP has stepped up its campaign to inform the people of the Modi government’s programmes and contributions to the state in its Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyan that began on June 1. This campaign will conclude on June 30.

Meanwhile, the Telangana government which began 21-day celebrations of ‘Telangana Dashabdi’ celebrations, too has been holding different programmes allocating one day each to one sector since June 2, the State Formation Day.
