At victory lunch, GT Devegowda slams Siddaramaiah
Minister claims ex-CM's supporters harassed JD(S) workers who had to face cases during Siddu's tenure.
Mysuru: Departing from the coalition dharma of partners in government not criticising each other, JD(S) leader and Higher Education Minister G.T. Devegowda on Sunday hit out at former CM and co-ordination committee chairman Siddaramaiah claiming that JD(S) leaders in his constituency-Chamundeshwari-had faced a lot of trouble from the supporters of Siddaramaiah in the past five years when the Congress was the ruling party.
Mr Devegowda who trounced Siddaramaiah in Chamundeshwari in the recent Assembly polls securing a lead of 36,042 votes, hosted a non-vegetarian lunch for over 25000 people and a vegetarian lunch for 5,000 people at a thanksgiving convention at Lingadevarakoplu in Mysuru taluk here on Sunday. In an hour-long speech, he continued his tirade against Siddaramaiah and said, “Many JD (S) leaders had to face cases in the five years Siddaramaiah was CM.
Those who were not connected with the constituency (Dr S Yatindra) laid foundation stones for several developmental programmes during the tenure of the previous government. The officials too were in favour of former CM Siddaramaiah, they should mend their ways now,” he warned.
He added, “The higher education department is like an ocean and I have to ‘pass’ this exam. If I keep attending programmes like naming ceremonies and weddings of people in the constituency, I will fail in the exam. So my son and my wife will attend such programmes.”
It is said that the non-vegetarian meal was prepared with 4,000 kg mutton and 3,000 kg chicken and served to people of Chamundeshwari constituency.
