YSRC Indulging in Corruption and Irregularities: BJP
VIJAYAWADA: State BJP state president Daggubati Purandeshwari and Union minister V Muraleedharan emphasized here on Sunday that the party's strengths cannot rely solely on the new party chief but also requires the contribution of every worker.
They criticised the YSRC government in Andhra Pradesh, saying that it was anti-people and that liquor distilleries have been handed over to close associates of the ruling party leaders, resulting in a huge scam in the sale of liquor.
Purandeswari presided over the BJP’s state office-bearers’ meeting at the party office here, in the presence of the party’s Andhra Pradesh affairs in charge, minister Muraleedharan.
Addressing the meeting, Muraleedharan gave a call to the party leaders that the BJP should play a vital role in the coming elections and strive to make the party an alternative political power in the state.
He said that in the recent BJP southern states meeting, the party decided to give special attention to AP. “The ruling YSRC has lost its confidence due to corruption and irregularities. The BJP has organised several agitations against the anti-people policies of the state government,” he claimed.
Muraleedharan said, “At the time of the 2019 elections, the Narendra Modi-led government had completed five years of its rule. Due to the false allegations by the opposition parties and based on the then situation in AP, the expected results were not achieved for the BJP in the state. Now, those situations have changed.”
Purandeswari said, “The party cannot be strengthened with me alone. I am thankful to the seniors and elders for their trust in me. Everyone should work actively in their areas and the party’s programmes should be taken to the grass-roots level. We have only five or six months left for the next polls. So, everyone will have to work hard. If so, we will get the people’s support.”
“Jagan Reddy came to power after giving many promises but he failed to fulfill them. We have to explain this to the people. The state’s people are being made to bear Rs 10-lakh crore of debt. The YSRC government is giving alms with one hand and collecting double of those with the other hand in the form of taxes. Crores were looted through the liquor and mining mafia.”
Purandeswari said a Dalit woman was raped near the CM's residence, but the accused were not caught. “The Jagan government doesn't care if a boy is burnt alive or a teacher is killed. The volunteers are not permanent. The YSRC government cheated the youth by promising them lakhs of jobs but it failed in this.”
She said job opportunities have thinned down in AP and people are moving to other states for work. An industry foresaw difficulties here and invested in Coimbatore.
BJP national executive member and former chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, the party’s former state president Somu Veerraju, Rajya Sabha Member GVL Narasimha Rao and others were present.
