HYDERABAD: Even as the PCC leadership gears up for celebrating ‘Liberation Day’ with initiatives including unveiling of its own Telangana thalli statue, the party’s version of state flag, some party seniors have dubbed this as unwarranted and a ‘unilateral’ decision. Do these things matter to win elections, they asked in a letter to the party high command and expressed apprehensions about a possible backlash from the ruling TRS on September 17.

According to party sources, two senior leaders have written to Delhi, saying such initiatives were ‘uncalled for’. Deccan Chronicle found that the Gandhi Bhavan Trust was yet to be formally informed about the installation of Telangana Thalli statue and it will not be granted permission. “We had a word with the PCC president on Wednesday. We did not agree to the installation of such a statue,” stated one of the trust’s board members.
